A live art activation and bustling pop-up style exhibition created by renowned urban artists.

In a dynamic pop-up style installation, two large shipping containers will take over Hunter Street and form a blank canvas as eight renowned urban artists permeate their unique artistic flare. The artists, including Nadia Hernandez and Shannon Crees, will be dazzling passers-by at various times over a two week period, ending 22 July, with the installation on display for a further week until 31 July.

If you want to check out some of the art that has been created throughout the project make sure to head down before Sunday to check them out.

Heavy Metal brings together works from three ongoing series by Sydney sculptor, Dion Horstmans. Wall mounted and freestanding, Horstmans’s multi-dimensional sculptures are crafted using precious and base metals. Heavy Metal includes works in gold, bronze, black nickel, copper, and steel.

Traditional tribal patterns and motifs underpin Horstmans’s entire body of work and these bold studies of line and shadow act as undertone to his Islander heritage. Shapes are revealed as the viewer moves around each work - Make sure to check out these raw, industrial pieces of art before they disappear.

Clare McShanag’s solo show Germane seeks inspiration from life and movement, capturing the dynamic moments and the colour of life. Both dark and beautiful, these photographs expose a mixture of the surreal and abstract. Photographs that are distorted yet discernable, visibly soft, yet impact the viewer with their sharper edge. McShanag’s photographic works ignite a fuel and awaken an experience for the eyes of the beholder.

Opening night celebrations are from 6pm – 8pm, 28 July.

Carriageworks, working with MASS MOCA, will present the first major exhibition in Australia of work by acclaimed Italian contemporary artist Francesco Clemente, as second in the annual Schwartz Carriageworks series of major international visual arts projects.

Created in collaboration with a community of artists in Rajasthan, India, with exteriors that combine camouflaged fabric and golden embroidery, the tents in Encampment invite us into jewel-toned spaces populated by Byzantine angels.
