Jack Carty and Katie Brianna join me in the studio!
What a special treat to have not one, but two guests in the studio this week.
Jack Carty is in Sydney with a new album in tow. Despite deciding to enjoy some well earned time off, Carty spent the last year recording a full album in his little flat in Brisbane. The result is a beautiful, intimate collection of songs inspired by both life on the road and home life with his lovely new wife Natasha. In our chat, Jack describes the experience of crowdfunding the album and the satisfaction that comes with being a totally independent musician in Australia. He also shares some hilarious stories about touring with his musical mate, Josh Pyke. Jack performs his latest single ‘All At Once’ and the two of us sing Ryan Adam’s classic ‘Oh My Sweet Carolina’.
Jack launches his new album, ‘Home State’ at Newtown Social Club this Saturday, 20th August.

Katie Brianna is a Sydney singer-songwriter who’s been making her mark on the country music scene over the last decade. Her second album, ‘Victim or the Heroine’ was produced by Shane Nicholson and shows off her stunning voice (that previously captured Paul Kelly’s attention) and mature, personal songwriting. We chat about her development as a musician and songwriter, influences for the album and her upcoming album launch. Katie performs two beautiful tracks from the album, ‘Lose Yourself Again’ and the first single ‘Birmingham’.
Catch Katie Brianna performing with a full band at Django Bar this Thursday, 18th August.
