Frances Madden and Band at Foundry 616
Frances Madden will perform at Foundry 616 as part of her eight piece band for their last performance for 2016 on the 10th December.
Describe by ABC Jazz’s Mal Stanley as a talented young vocalist and pianist and ‘one to watch’, France is one of the classiest young performers Australia has produced in recent times. Her mix of jazz and blues has been enchanting audiences at jazz clubs, concerts and festivals around the country. Indeed, she captivates people with a combination of her genuinely warm stage presence together with a voice and style that is uniquely her own. Being also a talented songwriter, she performs her own swinging tunes and beautiful ballads, merging seamlessly with the timeless classics she covers.
A few years after she began performing, Frances attracted the attention of the jazz legend James Morrison with her own material. He describes her has a ‘wonderful feeling for jazz and blues standards’ and invited her to record the James Morrison Studios, resulting was her first studio album If This Were A Dreams. Including eight original tracks and five classic covers, it debuted at #5 on the ARIA Jazz Album charts.
Frances’ eight piece band features some of Australia’s most talented musicians, including acclaimed Sydney saxophone player Jason Bruer alongside some of Australia’s most talented jazz musicians such as Peter Koopman on the guitar and and the drummer Tim Geldens. She performs regularly at leading jazz clubs, festivals and events around Australia and she has performed at JZ Club in Shanghai and also supported leading international artists visiting Australia including Grammy Award winner Gregory Porter and the legendary Dionne Warwick.
Frances says “This will be our last public performance of 2016 and we have a wonderful show planned for Foundry. We’ll be playing some original swing and blues as well as our unique take on some timeless classics. We’ll also be doing working in a couple of my original Christmas tunes to help people ease into the festive season. There will be something for everyone, so bring some friends along for dinner, or just for the show and we promise to make it an evening that you’ll enjoy”.
