Pandora’s Bag & Educating Rita– Arts Monday
Pandora’s Bag is a hilarious collection of 10 songs all inspired by that must-have item: the handbag! From the sexy to the sassy, the sad to the hilarious, Joanna Weinberg opens the bag of female mystery and pulls out everything from dirty laundry to leather fetishes and ‘bag porn’ (her secret vice). Joanna sings of middle-aged women on ships, timeless female myths and secret women’s business. This designer song (and bag) collection features musicians Nicola Ossher on drums, trumpeter Ellen Kirkwood and cellist Kate Adams.
Cabaret artist and songwriter, Joanna Weinberg, is my guest today.

Russell explores themes of class and choice, self-development and relationships in this contemporary classic which centres around Frank, a disillusioned English tutor, and Rita, a forthright young hairdresser who is eager to learn. This humorous yet serious play is directed by Julie Baz and features Emily McGowan as Rita, and David Jeffrey as Frank.
