We Sydneysiders are very lucky this week as many great writers descend upon us this week, discussing everything from global events to their current works. Talks are appearing at venues all over Sydney with a good mix of free events to choose from.
Highlights include;Cleverman creator Ryan Griffen wit his "Blerd Culture" panel. "Insiders", presented by Barrie Cassidy have a live show.As well as some great writers workshops.

In 2015, Wiradjuri man and award-winning journalist Stan Grant made a splash with his book Talking to My Country. In his new landmark Quarterly Essay, he makes the case for a more capacious Australian Dream with a place for all Indigenous people that includes those flourishing on intellectual, cultural and sporting fields, as well as those in detention or living in the shadows. He appears in conversation with Susan Carland.

This year, in a surge of global outrage at the election of Donald Trump, millions of women filled the streets in the largest single-day demonstrations in history. In the literary world, too, women are making noise. Jan Fran talks to important voices on the front line of feminist writing. Yassmin Abdel-Magied (Yassmin’s Story), Clementine Ford (Fight Like A Girl) and Tracey Spicer (The Good Girl Stripped Bare) discuss taking action and writing for change.

Jamie talks with Ben Jenkins about the simultaneously hilarious and horrific world of My Dad Wrote a Porno.

The most comprehensive exhibition dedicated to Andy Warhol’s early career in more than 25 years.
With the backdrop of 1950s New York and its burgeoning advertising industry, Adman: Warhol before pop focuses on the formative years of one of the 20th century’s most influential artists. It provides surprising insights into the beginning of Warhol’s career, from his award-winning work as a commercial illustrator through to his first, little-known exhibitions.

This show comes highly recommended by the team on Arts Tuesday, Gaz and Dianna. Tony Awards, a Pulitzer Prize and an Oscar-nominated movie adaptation starring Meryl Streep and Philip Seymour Hoffman. John Patrick Shanley’s Doubt: a parable has an aura of bigness about it. Big reputation. Big themes.
And yet, as this Apocalypse Theatre Company production at the Old Fitzroy demonstrates, Doubt is at heart a chamber piece. Played for 50 people in a small theatre, with its characters close enough to touch, it is completely engrossing.
