It’s one of the most colourful spring events in Sydney – and a spectacular way to spend a day at the beach. Festival of the Winds takes place at Bondi Park, Bondi Beach and Bondi Pavilion with a whole day of kite flying, kite stalls and kite making workshops.
Kite flyers show off their skills and wonderful handmade creations, plus kids can be inspired to make kites of their own. Look up and you’ll see well-known cartoon characters, giant animals, flowers and more from Australian and international kite flyers.
There’ll be food stalls around the beach, puppet shows, roaming entertainment, jumping castles and day-long family entertainment on the main stage.

I am terrible at scrabble. There I said it. As a verbose individual, who is media adjacent, it pains me to say so. My aunt is really good at it, that also pains me to say so!
However, in and amongst all the angst, it is a very fun game, and good for the brain box! If you fancy bettering your skills, or others, head to Marrickville library every Tuesday 10 am until 12.30.

After the smash success of this year’s TEDxSydney event, TEDxYouth@Sydneywill be held on Wednesday September 6 at Sydney Town Hall. The theme of the event is ‘Shifting the Future’ and speakers will cover topics from science to business and global issues.
Speakers include writer and director Chris Leben, who is part of the creative team behind SBS presenter Lee Lin Chin’s comedic alter ego (LLC will also make a special guest appearance); martial artist and actor Maria Tran; young mathematician Ivan Zelich; microbiologist research scientist Nural Cokcetin; entrepreneur and founder of tech company Afterpay, Nick Molnar; climate change activist Anika Molesworth; and beat maker and vocalist Alice Ivy.
Tickets are $90 for a full day and $50 for a half day.

A new play that puts Australian politics and the process of making Parliamentary change under the looking glass, Written by senior lobbyist at one of the largest multi-national pharmaceutical companies in the world, Stuart Englund has met almost every member of senior Parliament over the last decade and tells his story as a voyeur from both sides of the fence. What I’ll Never Say asks the big philosophical questions: What if you had an idea? A vision of how to fix things and make them better? How far would you go? What if you put your effort, your ambition, your everything into politics? And if you did, what happens if it all comes crashing down?
What I’ll Never Say is directed by Dan Graham who has worked with some of the leading Australian theatre companies, including MTC, Victorian Opera, The Ensemble, Opera Australia, Bell Shakespeare and Sport for Jove.
