Steve Langham on The Dialogue 30 May at 6pm

Steve Langham is the winemaker for Piggs Peake winery in Pokolbin in the Hunter Valley. He’s been known to strut around in a shiny cape, rescue damsels from wine barrels and he also makes a damn fine wine.

They’re the wines with the Piggy names – Sows Ear Semillon, Pino Piggio, House of Straw Shiraz. You get the picture!

Piggs Peake 2005 Wolfie Zinfandel was proclaimed the greatest Zinfandel ever made in Australia. The wine bible, James Halliday’s Wine Companion listed the 2005 Semillon and the 2004 Cabernet Merlot in the Best of the Best category. The 2006 Cabernet Merlot has been called the “best in Australia”.

Not bad for a guy who didn’t like drinking wine when he was studying wine making!

Tune in to The Dialogue at 6pm tonight (30 May) when I chat to Steve about alpacas, Freddy Mercury and his new restaurant venture.
