What the World Needs Now and The Forever Kid – Arts Monday
What the World Needs Now or How the Inner West Connects is a new musical theatre show about the ups and downs of living in Sydney’s inner west. Written by Choir Director, Gary Smith and members of the St Peter’s based community choir, The Bridge on the River Choir, the musical portrays the story of a community choir that harmonises its way through the twists and turns of challenges posed by a major infrastructure project and a love triangle between characters named Clef Hanger, Tony Crescendo and Treble Wilson.
This comic-tragedy about love and loss features musical hits of the 1960s backed by a stellar four-piece band led by pianist, Michael Bartolomei; guitarist, Rex Goh; bass player, Alex Hewetson; and drummer, Cameron Reid.
Choir Director, Gary Smith, and choir members, Glen Butters, Sharon Barclay, and Jem Burton are my guests today.
