Dr Catherine Crock AM joined Gemma Purves on Friday Drive to discuss her work with the HUSH Foundation.
Dr Crock founded Hush in response to her work treating children with leukaemia who required frequent painful medical procedures. She wanted to reduce the stress and anxiety such procedures brought on the children and their families.
By reducing the anxiety and fear it also meant that the procedures became more efficient and required less pain medication and shorter periods under anaesthetic. What started as a small program at the Royal Childrens Hospital in Melbourne has now spread nationwide and also has reach internationally.
Her latest initiative is the Gathering of Kindness using the arts and performances to reduce the prevalence of bullying in the medical profession.
