Pollination at The Calyx

Colour, it's all in the eye of the bee-holder!

Ever wanted to live a fantasy world filled with plants,wonder,colour and maybe even a bit of magic?
Well the Pollination at The Calyx is just for you.

Immerse yourself in the plant world, where colour is the essential ingredient for pollination. Watch as The Calyx is transformed into an ever-changing kaleidoscope of colour in the new, free floral display Pollination.

Curated by the horticultural team at the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney, the display features a collection of plants and flowers showcasing the role colour plays in natures magnificent act of pollination.

Garden beds of vibrant coloured orchids, daisies, gardenias and lilies are set against the backdrop of the display hero – the green wall.

Anime Architecture

Revealing the creative processes behind iconic Japanese animation films that will leave you astonished.

Curated by Stefan Riekeles, this exhibition traces the architectural world-building process of Japan’s most influential animated science fiction films.

From location photographs and concept sketches in detailed pencil drawings, through to final expression as anime cells in full colour, Anime Architecture reveals some of the intricate creative processes behind iconic Japanese animated films Patlabor: the Movie, Osamu Tezuka’s Metropolis, Ghost in the Shell and Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence.

The collection of works are by Hiromasa Ogura, Takashi Watabe, Haruhiko Higami, Mamoru Oshii and Atsushi Takeuchi.

Women of Craft: NAIDOC at Barangaroo

NAIDOC week is coming up soon and what better way to get in the spirit of it then to explore Women of Craft and celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and their distinctive role in knowledge sharing, teaching and community life.

The one-day event showcases Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander skills and traditions via a variety of free workshops and activities. Take part in cooking demonstrations and food tastings or attend workshops and learn basket weaving and shell jewellery-making techniques.

There’ll also be a dedicated interactive space for kids to experience storytelling, cooking and try their hand at craft activities. Plus, a large communal fire pit to enjoy, food trucks and a chance to meet dingoes from Bargo Dingo Sanctuary.
