A lifetime of work with a lifelong friend – Vince Jones talks ‘Provenance’ (ABC Jazz) with Melanie C on Take One

Audiences have thanked him time and time again for his efforts, making him a platinum selling artist and selling out venues from Sydney to London and back. Vince Jones joins me in studio to talk about his career as reflected upon in his latest release alongside fellow Aussie music legend Paul Grabowsky entitled ‘Provenance’ (ABC Jazz). The album looks back on the pair’s initial encounters, as well as their influences and experiences gathered over time showcased through a mix of originals written by the pair, others by Jones for various projects and finally a few standards re-imagined. The album ties together through their minimalistic instrumentation approach, keeping each song fairly consistently only vocals and piano with a hint of flumpet (flugelhorn and trumpet) thrown in to show off some of Jones other talents.
