A Taste Of Honey August 30 2012
Why a ‘Mad Men’ music special??Simple really-I love the TV series and clearly the audience and their peers do too-now in production of a sixth series, the show has been the recipient of 15 Emmy Awards and 4 Golden Globes-many of my friends had not seen it until I turned them on to it but thats what I love about life-enthusing other people and whats not to like about a series that through its characters, addresses(but does not lecture)on the themes of racism, sexism, feminism, drinking, smoking, adultery ,homophobia against a rich tapestry of design, fashion of the late ’50s and the ’60s-being a baby boomer, the memories that this series brought back to me prompted me to share the times and the music with you-some of the best songs, vocals and instrumental tracks ever recorded and they deserve an outing-I hope you like them and check out the show-its available on DVD(all first five series) and iTunes and I am sure will get rescreened on TV(pay and free to air)before season 6 in 2013-its worth the effort and I am sure you will all have your favourite episode, character, and ones you don’t like too but the music is forever and this musical selection is just a sample of the times, places and events that ‘Mad Men’ allows me to revisit in that wonderful thing called a ‘memory bank’.
