A Taste Of Honey February 19 2015
Three of todays featured artistes share the following in common- they have all delighted us since the 60’s with their songs, their personnas, their performances, their recordings, books, poetry and films – pictured from left to right are Lesley Gore, Louis Jourdan (pic with Leslie Caron) and Rod McKuen. These three very talented artistes left us in 2015 ,on Feb 16, Feb 14 and Jan 25 respectively. In a very small way ‘A Taste Of Honey ‘ hilites 4 of Lesley’s hits produced by Quincy Jones and arranged by Claus Ogerman, 3 classic tracks from musicals featuring Louis and with much difficulty 5 of Rod’s songs chosen out of some 1500 compositions. To choose from his prolific legacy of work(some 1500 songs) is an enormous challenge but to be honest some of these tracks chose themselves.
In addition, apart from chatting to Life Coach/Management Consultant/Global Busker, Gerald Wenger from Germany who is a constant visitor to Australia (and is responsible for me taking up the guitar), there is new music from The New Basement Tapes, Rhiannon Giddens, The Punch Brothers (whose albums are all produced by the talented T Bone Burnett) there are also a couple of tracks from Australia’s Robertson Brothers’ latest album which is a tribute to the Everly Brothers.
