A Taste of Honey February 26 2015

ricky martinshakiraherb lpertruth roshan Herb Alpert celebrates his 80th birthday on  March 31st 2015.In addition to being the  “A” of A&M records, an abstract  expressionist painter and major  philanthropist, his musical  accomplishments include 5  #No 1 albums,  28  Billboard charting albums, 9 Grammy  Awards,14 Platinum albums and 15 Gold albums. He introduced the western world to Mariachi Music in 1962 and has continued to record and perform with the Tijuana Brass and solo, accompanied by his wife, sensational vocalist (originally with Sergio Mendes & Brasil 66) Lani Hall. I have included a couple of great remixes from his classic album ‘Whipped Cream and Other Delights’ as part of this weeks program. The Tango theme is extended and I have included Mambo, Cha Cha and Meringue music – perfect for this sultry, humid Sydney weather and a great segue into a live appearance from Argentinian Tango Duo Ramirez/Satorre. In addition new music from Australia’s Ruth Roshan and Tango Noir,a sneak track from Ricky Martin’s new Spanish album ‘A Quien Quiera Escuchar’, Eartha Kitt and Natalie Cole (en espanol), plus Tito Puente , Stan Kenton, Shakira and more.
It is very difficult in my opinion, for people who love music not to find empathy with the songs, performances, arrangements and passion from the vast depth and breadth of Latin Music. My Spanish is limited but I find myself totally immersed in these sounds and I hope you do too.
