A Taste Of Honey January 26 2012

The passing of another “legend” this week reminds the music lovers that we are, of how lucky we have been to experience the likes of artistes such as Etta James. Born Jamesetta Hawkins 73 years ago,(Etta James -pic left)thrilled us with her emotional vocal performances from roots music to jazz versions of songs from the great American songbook. From her beginnings in “doo-wop” as a member of the group Peaches to her 1996 Top 10 UK hit of “I Just Wanna Make Love To You”,Etta always delivered.Like many artistes of her time, her passion, fire and emotion in her delivery over her career was born out of a tough life environment.Rolling Stone magazine listed Etta No 22 on its list of the 100 Greatest Singers of All Time.RIP Ms James……thankyou for being you regardless of the challenges you faced……….and for the body of work that you leave us to share well into the future.
