Someone told me that there was a big party going on in Brazil-apparently some of the invitees couldn’t stand the pace and have already left but there are some major partying to come for those that are able to stay the distance.Brazilian music has stayed the distance since way before the Portuguese claimed sovereignty and with the help of GAL COSTA (pic.far left), CAETANO VELOSO(inner left), ASTRID GILBERTO (center left), ANTONIO CARLOS JOBIM (pic.right with FRANK SINATRA),I have put together 80 minutes of music to capture the spirit of Brazilian rhythm and the impact it has had on the global music scene.From native rhythms to Carioca stars and their collaboration with non Brazilian musicians, BRAZILIAN MUSIC has captured the passions of the world. Indeed Brazil’s magic has worked its charm on not only jazz musicians that include STAN GETZ, , ELLA FITZGERALD, & SARAH VAUGHN  but pop artists who include DURAN DURAN,MIKE NESMITH  (of The Monkees) and Australia’s favourite son, PETER ALLEN.When the SAMBA phenomenon was popularised by the amazing talent of Antonio (Tom)Carlos Jobim it encouraged Frank Sinatra to record possibly  the best performances of his career- check out ‘WAVE ‘ from ‘The Complete Reprise Recordings’ album -simply stunning ! SERGIO MENDES continues his global career with a new album -his 55th release’MAGIC’ and it is! After this 80 minutes I hope that some of the BRAZILIAN MUSIC MAGIC  has rubbed off on you and regardless of the results of the World Cup Party,whether you are interested in the BEAUTIFUL game or not,I hope that the host country’s music leaves a lasting impression- theres so much fto choose from -this is just a little taste!
