A Taste of Honey March 20 2014
Paul Albert Anka was born July 30,1941.He is synonymous with the musical talent that consistently is exported around the world from Canada and he was doing it before Michael Buble,Leonard Cohen,Gordon Lightfoot,Neil Young,Celine Dion,Joni Mitchell,Diana Krall,David Foster and many more.I have always been a fan,we sang and rocked to his songs on radiop in the late ’50’s BUT now after having seen him blitz The Star in Darling Harbour on March 9th,I am in awe of his ability to sing so well at the age of 73,charm the audience, energise the musicians and sing song after song that he wrote, others wrote and that he has re-imagined for todays audiences and to enhance the songs even further.90 minutes does little justice to a man who wrote ‘Diana’,”Put Your Head On My Shoulder’,’A Steel Guitar and A Glass Of Wine’,”I Guess It Doesn’t Matter Anymore’ and some. This is the man who wrote TWO hits that relaunched Sinatra’s career-“Let Me Try Again’ with the great Sammy Cahn and by himself, the English lyrics to ‘My Way’.
