A Taste Of Honey March 27 2014
Mr G.K Panayioutu a.k.a. George Michael(pic left) has released ‘Symphonica’-an album that clearly fills the gap while we are waiting for his next studio album-together with The London Symphony,he delivers amazing vocals and stunning arrangements of his own songs together with some selected standards-I went to see the simply awesome Buika(pic right)-the child of African parents born in Palma de Majorca and delivering one of the best performances I have seen to date-she is raw, doesn’t mince her words BUT delivers songs in Spanish,French and English like no other female vocalist I know-Dianne Reeves delivers on her new offering as does Pink Martini and 73 year old Herb Alpert along with Mrs A-Lani Hall on his 2014 Grammy Award winning album.Willy DeVille, thanks to ‘Australian Music Guru’ Glenn A Baker has his “lost album” ‘Miracle’ produced by Mark Knopfler now available again and what an album this is-delved back into the last releases of two fine vocal groups namely ‘The Nylons’ and ‘The Lettermen’for some great vocal gymnastics which brings me to our own ‘The Idea Of North’ from late 2013 and he might “swing both ways” musically which is evidenced by his worldwide sales of 70 million and counting as a solo artist and as a member of best selling Brit Boy Band ‘Take That’–Robbie Williams serves up some great vocals and arrangements on his just released album ‘Swings Both Ways’.
