My paradigm in relation to my      program is “Its All About The Music”. I endeavour not to waiver from this when I plan and and construct my program, whether it be old, new, something borrowed or something blue – whether themed to one artist or a central theme, the music selected is constantly reviewed to  provide a great listening experience for everyone. On occasion I program  new songs by known artistes or old songs reimagined by both new and/or well known artistes or simply tracks that have been sitting somewhere and I have re – united myself with them or somebody I respect has hilited repertoire that has been secreted away and for the most part forgotten about.
This week the show kicks off with Charlie Rich’s (pictured second from left) version of ‘Mood Indigo’ from a well kept secret album entitled ‘ Pictures and Paintings’ – his very last recording.

In addition new tracks from Bette Midler’s (pictured far left) 14th Studio album ‘It’s The Girls’ channelling famous girl groups, 2010’s UK X Factor runner up Rebecca Fergusson’s (pictured centre left) ‘Lady Sings The Blues’ and Pokey LaFarge’s (pictured centre right) ‘Something In The Water’ album.

In addition brand new music from Buena Vista Social Club, Concha Buika & Chucho Valdes, Boz Scaggs, Cassandra Wilson, Curtis Stigers and Steve Tyrell.

Original songs and standards, some  in English and some in Spanish but all new. People ask me where can new music be found in these days of internet streaming and multiple distribution channels and I always direct them to the “bricks and mortar’ stores selling physical CDs on the net such as Amazon or Barnes and Noble. There re many online sites BUT the first step is for someone to expose this music and let the everyday music lover/consumer hear the music first and be alerted to its existence – thats my task for this week. This program includes music for everyone and I aim to give everyone the opportunity to hear the tracks and then make their own minds up re next steps – I still like to own my music but thats a personal choice – ONE thing I know for sure there is no shortage of new music (or existing music for that matter) – the key is making a decision to access it in any way that suits you – I am just going to sew the seed – the rest is up to you.Enjoy.
