A Taste Of Honey November 22 2012

I first saw Simon Tedeschi (pic.right) at Government House in Sydney and was captivated by his playing of both classical works and George Gershwin’s music.Some months later I interviewed him along with violinist extraordinaire IanCooper and saw them perform together which convinced me even more.When Simon asked me to interview him regarding his new album ‘Gershwin and Me‘,I jumped at the opportunity to help promote him further in Australia and also to use his renditions of Gershwin to build a program for some other Gershwin classics -it is impossible to do either artist/composer justice in 90 minutes but for todays show,I have endeavoured to capture some of the great songs and performances of George Gershwin’s melodies(and Ira’s lyrics).A major exclusion today because of time is Simon’s live recording of ‘Rhapsody in Blue’ with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra so  you will have to buy a copy of the album on ABC Classics which is available now-hope you enjoyed the show as much as I did putting it together.
