A Taste Of Honey October 29 2015
After no new music in three years since the Academy Award winning song “Skyfall”, the female singer who holds the record for the longest stay of all time on the top of the UK and US charts, Adele (pic. far left), is back with her first single “Hello” from her soon to be released album “25”. The single will be No 1 on Billboard next week. In addition to this great new ballad, another sneak preview from the album “If I Can Dream” – Elvis Presley as you have never heard him before singing with The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra – while he always wanted to do an album with a symphony orchestra , management never allowed it – if this posthumous duet of “Fever” with Michael Buble (pic.inside left) is anything to go by, Presley fans and music lovers generally are in for a treat !
New music also from quadruple 2015 Grammy Award winning artiste, Sam Smith (pic right) with his new composition “The Writing’s On The Wall” from the forthcoming James Bond blockbuster “SPECTRE” plus a tribute to Mark Murphy(pic. centre), jazz singer, composer and avant-guarde arranger who passed away this month at age 83.
Other tracks included are new tracks form Don Henley, Andrea Bocelli, Buika and interesting “chameleon” singer Hugh Coltman plus a couple of old favourites that stack up well amidst all the new material.
While I constantly enjoy playing familiar songs and in general well established artistes, it is always a challenge to find new tracks that in my opinion deserve to be hilighted to an audience that in this marketplace may not get to hear these artistes and their new songs. That would be a travesty – this week’s ‘A Taste of Honey ‘ gives music lovers the opportunity of hearing these new offerings and then being able to make their own minds up as to taking the next step- wanting to hear more or deciding that perhaps it is not for them- Eastside gives everyone the option through the diverse range of programming and I constantly endeavour to find music that is worthy of a listen.
I’m confident that this week’s program nails that endeavour.
