A Taste Of Honey October 30 2014
One of the great interpreters of jazz, great American Songbook songs and other contemporary music passed away on October 16th.Tim Hauser (pic. far left) was the founder and constant member of The Manhattan Transfer (pic.left).Together with Cheryl Bentyne,Janis Siegel and Alan Paul, they charmed and enriched their audiences worldwide. In addition to many Grammy awards, they reimagined the music of The Inkspots, Jimmy Dorsey, Nat King Cole, Anita O’Day and others. They have the distinct honour of winning the DOWNBEAT Jazz Poll Award every year for the decade 1980-90 and for many years they also won The Playboy Jazz Poll. One wonderful aspect of great music and artistes -it LIVES on, after the creators have left us and the music of Tim Hauser and The Transfer is no exception. Thanks for giving us your talent and your music – may you rest in peace with all your fellow musicians that have passed on and keep your very talented eyes and ears on the musicians of tomorrow – I think they are going to need some help if they are to leave their legacy to the future, the way you have done with yours.
