A Taste Of Honey September 11 2014
Great Music and Great Artistes have a habit of providing a body of work that acts as a catalyst for current artists to re-interpret and showcase to today’s audiences. Michael Falzon (pic.far left)( interviewed on today’s show) together with Bobby Fox (pic.inside left), bring to the stage on September 24th, at the City Recital Hall, Angel Place, Sydney, ‘Painted From Memory ‘ The Music of Burt Bacharach and Elvis Costello (pic. centre). In today’s program, I have showcased a selection of songs from Burt Bacharach’s outstanding body of work done by artistes such as David Ruffin, Peter Sellers & The Hollies, Everything But The Girl, Ani DiFranco, Deacon Blue, The Stylistics, Dusty Springfield, The Walker Brothers and The Beatles.
In addition the programme features songs by Elvis Costello (solo) and also from these two artistes’ collaborative album ‘Painted From Memory’ released in 1998, the featured music of the second act of the live show.
The depth of music from the works of Bacharach and Costello is simply stunning. It is impossible to do it justice in 90 minutes and that is not my intention – just endeavouring to give everyone a taste of the show’s content and ‘tickle your musical tastebuds’ for future listening adventures from these two ICONS of contemporary music.
