Album of the Week – The Strides ‘The Good, The Rich and The Fake’

Eastside Radio’s Album of the Week is ‘The Youth, The Rich and The Fake’ by The Strides.

The album is an amalgamation of both classic and contemporary interpretations of Reggae, up-tempo ska, hip-hop beats and Dancehall anthems. This soulful soundscape provides the perfect platform to project the politically charged lyrics, voiced by front-men Ras Roni and Ltl Gzeus. The group’s latest release was cultivated during a weeklong residency at Campbelltown Art’s Centre in Sydney’s West.  To top off the recording experience, The Strides used the U-Live Studio’s, located deep within the rainforest of Ocean Shores, Byron Bay, a profound influence on the band’s creative process. The album also features special guest vocals from rising soul songstress Ngaiire and the Sierra Leonean Ragga power-house ‘Blacker’ Conteh.

Band Members:

Ras Roni, LTL Gzeus: vocals
Nick Garbett: trumpet
Jeremy Rose: tenor sax
Matt Smith: guitar
Dan Pliner: keyboards
Rory Brown: bass
Carlos Adura: drums
