Alison Coulthurst exhibition showing at SOHO Galleries
With her feminine and intricate mixed media style, artist Alison Coulthurst has been an inspiration in the art world, making her well sought after worldwide. This June, Coulthurst has set up studio back home in the Byron Shire to produce her latest exhibition for SOHO Galleries called “There Are No Ordinary Moments”.
Drawing inspiration from her travels in Europe and living in the French wine countryside, the exhibition focuses on the important things in the artists life.
Alison commented, “after living in Europe in a completely different environment I realised in this time of my life that it is important to embrace my surroundings wherever I am, so I’ve returned with a new frame of mind to be in the moment and live in the present. I am following my feelings and my enhanced energy and have painted these emotions onto the canvas”.
Her illustrious career has had many highlights so far, with Alison exhibiting her work in England, South Africa, New Zealand, the United Arab Emirates, Italy, France and Australia since she began her professional art career in 2001. She has had many major commissions of her work and was even selected to be apart of a group of artists who collaborated on an art initiative with Nelson Mandela.
Her medium of mixed media has allowed her work to be multi-layered, especially with her exploration of sgraffito, a technique she used a lot for her latest exhibition.
The show opened on June 6th and will run until the 3rd of July. SOHO Galleries is open Tuesday to Sunday 12:00pm to 6:00pm. For more information about the show, head to the SOHO Galleries website here.
