Emie Rioux-Roussel on piano, Nicolas Bédard on bass and Dominic Cloutier on drums – these are the three fabulous artists who form together the jazzy Emie R Roussel Trio! A very special presentation coming up at Foundry616 on Dec 12, with the Canadian EMIE R ROUSSEL TRIO performing their new show ‘Quantum’.
Originated in Quebec and being active for over four years, the Trio’s main purpose is to create original and innovative jazz.
The combination of European and North American jazz, underlined by their enormously great drive with a touch of empathy, direct them constantly to several nominations and prices. Anyhow, this is not the only key to their success, they charm together and their authenticity never fails. Emie has been nominated Radio-Canada jazz 2014-15, all together they were rewarded with a special mention by the jury of the TD Grand Jazz Award at the 34th Montreal international Jazz Festival and won the People’s Choice Award at the 2013 Festi Jazz International de Rimouski. Over the last few years, they are popping up on the Canada jazz scene more and more often.
To give an outlook for the Emie Roussel Trio’s future career, we focus on the year ahead that promises to be particularly busy with the release of a third album and concerts all around the globe, in Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Europe.

But where’s the connection between a jazz trio and the physical term ‘Quantum’? Quantum is the smallest indivisible unit, which is perfectly represented through the Trio: three simple, individual elements uniting and combining with each other to form a whole and complete musical experience. In this environment of sharing and exchange, Quantum was born.
