Anzac Day 2015

This Saturday, Australia will mark the centenary of Anzac Day and the 100 years since Australia fought in the battles in Gallipoli. Each year, Sydneysiders gather at dawn for the traditional Dawn Service to commemorate and show respect to the ANZACs who fought and died for our country.

The Cenotaph, Martin Place

As always, Sydney will be hosting its own Dawn Service at The Cenotaph in Martin Place. The service is expected to draw large crowds, with organisers reckoning that the area surrounding the digital screens to fill up by 3:00am. The service is due to start at 4:30am.

As well as the large service that will be held in Sydney City, dawn services will also be held in the suburbs around Sydney.

There are a number of services around the eastern suburbs that will take place early Saturday morning. Locations that will host a dawn service are: Waverley Cemetery (from 5.10am and 2pm), North Bondi War Memorial (from 6am), Waverley Park (from 7.30am) and Bronte Beach (from 10am).

If you haven’t been to a dawn service before and are considering it, this year is possibly the best and most special year to go being that it is the 100 year anniversary since Gallipoli.
