Art Month & Art Matters – Arts Monday
Director of Art Fairs Australia, Barry Keldoulis, and Author, Art Critic, and Gallery Director, Patrick McCaughey, are my guests today.
Art Month Sydney is the annual city-wide festival that celebrates contemporary art and artists. Artists are at the heart of Art Month and the festival gives the opportunity to explore artists’ studios, take artist-led tours and hear direct from them about what art is and what it could be. Barry Keldoulis unveils the Art Month program for 2017, which has a new focus on Art at Night events across the city.
Art Month 1 March – 20 March 2017

In his latest book, ‘Strange Country – Why Australian Painting Matters’ Patrick McCaughey turns his expert gaze to the gap between international ignorance of Australian art and the undeniable power and originality of work produced in this country. He demonstrates not only why Australian art matters but why it should matter more beyond our national frontiers and rightfully take its place amongst the visual languages of humankind.
‘Strange Country – Why Australian Painting Matters’ is published by The Miegunyah Press, an imprint of Melbourne University Publishing (MUP).
I look forward to your company 10.30am – 12.00pm
