ARTGROUPIE 2012

The realms of visual art and music combine in this series of exhibitions, showcasing talented, double-threat musicians, DJs and vocalists who also work as artists. All of that creative talent sounds like too much for one space but ARTGROUPIE somehow manages it.

This is the third staging of ARTGROUPIE, happily presented by Groovescooter Records, da dAdA and Eastside Radio 89.7. The exhibition will feature varied pieces, from paintings to installations to photography to video work, all from multi-talented noise-makers and music-lovers.

Over 20 artists (in more than one sense of the word) are involved in the exhibition including Reg Mombassa and Peter O’Doherty of Mental As Anything, Sam Haycroft of Sydonia, Steve Kilby of The Church, Josh Morris of Atticus and Eastside’s own Paris Bagshot of Groovescooter plus many many more. The pieces all offer an exciting perspective on the artist’s imaginations and give fresh insight into the world of music and the people who live in it.

For 2012, a second room will feature music photography by former NME staff member, Bleddyn Butcher. Butcher’s dynamic photographs will be framed and available for sale, capturing the likes of McComb, Nick Cave, Roland S. Howard, The Drones, Gareth Liddiard and many more.

If that weren’t enough on show for you, Cherry2000 (also a featured artist) will be performing live on the night with guest DJ’s. You’ll receive complimentary drinks and a FREE memento CD of music by the exhibiting artists, so you can experience the full range of their talents.

Commemorate the night with your friends in Zac’s Free FOTO-FUN BOOTH. Alternatively, all of the works are for sale so you can to get your hands on a great new conversation piece to impress people with. “Oh, this painting? Yes, the artist was also a member of brilliant band, The Church . . . ”
