Join me, Jane Raffan, for a program that takes an in-depth look at the work of artist Jenny Sages.
I’ll be chatting with Jenny about Paths to Portraiture, a National Portrait Gallery touring exhibition currently on show at the Mosman Art Gallery.
This exhibition examines the process of making portraits, which in Jenny’s case, are scratched and gouged from encaustic wax and delicately coloured with powdered pigments.
Along with her abstract works, Jenny has had a long practice in painting portraits and since 1989 she has been an Archibald finalist twenty times (People’s Choice in 2012), and has also won the Portia Geach Memorial Award for portraiture twice. During the same period she has been a finalist in the Wynne Prize for landscape fourteen times, winning in 2005.
