Join me, Jane Raffan, for a program about the nexus between evolutionary biology and love.
In the second of my interviews with Professor Rob Brooks, UNSW evolutionary biologist, we’ll be chatting about the chapters on love and monogamy in his fascinating book “Sex, Genes & Rock ‘n’ Roll”, in which he makes the case for evolutionary factors shaping the modern world.
“And love?” I hear you say…well, yes. According to Rob Brooks, love is a drug (as the song goes) and monogamy is the result of the development of a number of biological forces.

On cue, the program’s music will be a mix of vocal jazz and Blues tracks on sex and the complexities of love…with some risque Blues numbers from the 1930s through 1950s (feel free to play ‘guess the euphemism’), and tracks by more recent luminaries, such as Bill Frisell, Nina Simone and Cassandra Wilson.
