ArtiFacts Eastside.

Join me, Jane Raffan, for a program that takes an in-depth look ‘the object’, and its treatment by artists and photographers in two exhibitions at the Art Gallery of New South Wales: Still Life and Joy Before the Object.

I’ll be chatting with Jade Williamson, Assistant Curator in the Australian art department about Still Life, and Dr Georgina Cole, Photography Programs Coordinator about Joy Before the Object.

We’ll be looking at some of the convergences and disparate approaches to imaging objects and Still Lifes by local and international practitioners over the last century.

More on Joy Before the Object here: https://www.artgallery.nsw.gov.au/collection/works/?exhibition_id=6572

And Still Life here: https://www.artgallery.nsw.gov.au/exhibitions/still-life/

And the music? In keeping with the tenor of the show, the playlist will be an eclectic mix of mainly jazz and ambient vignettes that reflect some of the themes addressed/moods conjured in both exhibitions: Rob Burger, John Zorn, Marylin Crispell, Jan Garbarek, Pat Metheny, Lisa Gerrard, Marty Erlich, Paul Motian, Bill Frisell, Joe Lovano and more.

As always, I look forward to your company, 10:30 to noon.

Jane
