Arts Thursday 1 February 2018 presented by Bronwyn Rennex

On Arts Thursday today I speak to Melinda Doring, daughter of the amazing Dawn Swane – ballet dancer, makeup artist and founder of 3 arts makeup college in 1966.

The college, where students learnt about makeup for film, television and theatre ran until a few years ago with Dawn at the helm and has created an amazing legacy. Prior students of the college have gone on to win awards internationally. Prior to starting the college Dawn had a career as a ballet dancer and make-up artist. She danced at Princess Grace of Monaco’s wedding, she filmed The Beatles on her little movie camera, she put mascara on Michael Caine.

Sadly, the 3 arts makeup centre is in the process of closing down for good. Melinda (a very established Production Designer for film & tv herself) speaks to me about her mum’s amazing career and legacy and about the process of closing the centre.
