Arts Thursday showcasing the arts

Arts Thursday 7 May, with Maisy Stapleton, showcases the diversity of the arts.

First up we meet Asher Milgate, whose exhibition Survivors – portraits of Aboriginal Elders and Elders-in-Waiting associated with the former Nanima Mission in Wellington NSW, is nearing the end of its showing at the Western Plains Cultural Centre in Dubbo.

Asher’s extraordinary and powerful portraits are accompanied by recordings of the personal and often surprising viewpoints and histories of each of the 18 men and women he spoke to. On Arts Thursday, Asher tells us his story and the inspiration behind this project.

London, Bristol and now SYDNEY!

The Other Art Fair opens a new doorway for emerging artists to sell their work and connect with artlovers, buyers and gallerists.

The Other Art Fair, is based on successful models tested over several years in London and Bristol.

The Other Art Fair  launches in Sydney in September, at the same time as the Sydney International Art Fair, when art lovers will abound in the city.

Arts Thursday speaks to Emilya Collyer and ZoePaulsen about the opportunities the Fair offers for artists and buyers alsike.

The final segment of the program will look at gardens – in particular the opening of a museum of gardening and a garden history conference in Adelaide. My final guest on the program is Richard Heathcote, the Director of Adelaide’s Carrick Hill Museum who will detail these forthcoming events.
