Arts Wednesday 1 May 2013

This week I start a new series about the violin family with violin makers Lespets Camden. Lespets Camden comprise Linda and Antoine Lespets, the luthiers and Lilly Camden who is a violinist. Over the coming weeks we will explore this family of instruments: their history and manufacture, both today and in the past as well as many other questions, including the relationship between the musician and the maker, choosing a violin and choosing a bow. In Part 1 today, we introduce the family of instruments.

At 11:00 am I will be pleased to play an interview I recorded with Caroline Wilkinson who is the tour guide extraordinaire at Sydney Hospital. We trace many aspects of this amazing set of buildings from first settlement to today.

While I run the series on the violin family, I will start and finish every program with violin music. In between, I’ve selected music that is just easy on the ear, with lots of old favourites included.

Please join me!
