Arts Wednesday 15 July 2015

At 10:40 am, Ed Lippmann joins us for Part 4 of Corbusier and Co and this week we talk about Mies Van Der Rohe. Corbusier and Co is a 5-part look at the Modernists in the current series of Sydney By Design.

At 11:00 am I’ll play you an interview I recorded in Canberra with Dr Susannah Helman at the National Library of Australia. In the Discovery Gallery, the Rothschild Book of Hours is on loan from the Kerry Stokes collection, along with other medieval and Renaissance manuscripts in the library’s collection. Susannah is curatorial manager of the National Library of Australia’s Exhibitions Branch and was one of the curators of the exhibition.

I will play some medieval music to punctuate my conversation with Susannah and for the rest, I am inspired this week by the trumpet. It began with the acquisition of a new album by British trumpeter, Alison Balsom and I’ll feature tracks from that album as well as other trumpet music.

Do join me!
