ARTS WEDNESDAY

Arts Wednesday 19 June 2019

At 10:40 am, Dr Anna Kamaralli returns with Part 3 of Shakespeare and Company, with this week’s episode entitles It Is a Pretty Youth. This is, of course, the young boys who played the female parts in the company.

My special guest this week is Nicholas Chapman, curator at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, talking about the current exhibition, The Essential Duchamp. Marcel Duchamp was the person who changed forever what art is and how it is made. He was an enigmatic character, from the beginning to the end of his artistic life and if you only know of him because of Fountain, you’ll find there is plenty more to this man!

Duchamp was a French man, but eventually moved to New York, taking American citizenship. Music will reflect his French heritage and finish up with something distinctly American.

Do keep me company.
