ARTS WEDNESDAY 2 MARCH 2011

Rhona Clement returns at 9:45 am for the next installment of All Fired Up, a fascinating 5-part history of ceramics. At 10:10 am Ed Lippmann returns with Sydney By Design, continuing our series on Sydney as a desirable city.

At 10:30 am I will be pleased to play an interview I recorded with Beat Roderer, an artist from Zurich, whose exhibition opened on the weekend at the Domink Mersch Gallery at 2 Danks St Waterloo. Beat has returned to Switzerland but came to the studio on Monday to record our conversation.

The image here  is one of his works entitled Supramat Auf Drei Lagen 2010, paint on aluminium, diameter 150cm. The exhibition is entitled Still Abstraction and further information is at www.dominikmerschgallery.com

Music to punctuate our conversation will be related to Switzerland: chocolate, cuckoo clocks! For the rest, I will feature a new album – for me that is: the earliest parts were originally recorded in 1940! It is Benny Goodman, playing works commissioned by him from legendary classical composers Bela Bartok and Igor Stravinsky as well as the piece by Leonard Bernstein I played for you earlier this year. I’ll add to that other clarinet pieces.

As always, I look forward to your company!
