Arts Wednesday 23 May 2018

At 10:40 am, Andy Bromberger joins us for Part 3 of Atonalism, Alienation and Appeasement. This week, Andy looks at politics in the twentieth century and its impact on music and musicians. Stalin, Hitler and McCarthy all had very well-defined and strong views on what sort of music was acceptable and which musicians.

At 11:00 am, Dr Brandon Gien joins me in the studio. He is CEO of Good Design Awards and the winners for 2018 have just been announced. This year the awards are 60 years old, so it’s a good time to look back at past winners as well as to learn about this year’s winners.

Music this week reflects my conversation with Andy. I will be playing music by those musicians who were banned by political regimes.

Do join me!
