In this weeks Arts Wednesday we’ll be exploring circles and Australia – the continent circled by sea!
Joining us first is David Hill, an extraordinary public figure known as the chairman of the ABC, Sydney Water and Australian Football. He’s coming into Eastside to talk about his new book The Great Race. This is the little known story about how the first map of Australia was created; how a chance sighting between two explorers sparked an epic race to provide the rest of the world with the first map of a land known as ‘Terra Australis Incognita’.

Siân McIntyre, artist and longtime friend to all of us here at Eastside joins us to discuss her upcoming exhibition “Exhile’s Lament” – Signs and songs of a homeland lost but not yet forgotten will invade the white walled Kudos Gallery space, with 138.6 square meters of turf laying the foundation for an enquiry into site, place, history and value. Opening Tuesday October 30th (until November 3rd) at Kudos Gallery in Paddington.
