ARTS WEDNESDAY 29 SEPTEMBER 2010

Jonathan James will be presenting Now Showing this week from Melbourne. I will be taking a phone call from him at the usual time of 9:45 am. Andrew Shapiro will be in the studio at 10:10 am for New Antiques and this week promised to take us to Scandinavia.

My special guest this week is Dr Simon Longstaff, Director of the St James Ethics Centre,  making a welcome return to Arts Wednesday. However, this time he is wearing his hat of co-curator of the Festival of Dangerous Ideas taking place at the Opera House this weekend. Do you know what a dangerous idea is? And why would you have a festival to celebrate them? These are some of the questions I will be asking.

Following my theme of one featured instrument each program, this week I will be playing guitar music. However, with the Commonwealth Games opening in Delhi, I’ll also play a bit of Indian or Indian-related music as well.

As always, I look forward to your company!
