ARTS WEDNESDAY 6 APRIL 2011

At about 9:45 am Jane Raffan will join me for Now Showing and at about 10:10 am, Rosemary Shepherd will present the third in our series on the history of lace. This will be Rosemary’s final episode and next week her colleague, Lindie Ward, the Curator of Lace and Textiles at the Powerhouse Museum will take over the story for the final three spisodes.

At about 10:30 am I will be very pleased to welcome to the studio Silke Raetze, a wonderfully talented artist who was Artist – in – Residence at the Australian Museum last year, drawing Birds of Paradise from the museum’s  New Guinea collection. Some of the works go on display at the museum as of next week as part of a new exhibition entitled Rituals of Seduction:Birds of Paradise. I have attached a small example on the left. I visited her in her studio last week and was frankly enchanted!

No brainer for music this week  – birds!

As always, I look forward to your company!
