Laila Ellmoos joins us at about 10:40 am for Part 4 of our tour of the Paddington/Darlinghurst area and this week she takes us to Victoria Barracks, our immediate neighbour on the western side.

At about 11:00 am I will play an interview I recorded with Roanne Gonsalves and Hsu-Ming Teo, both contributers to Joyful Strains, a book published to coincide with Australia Day 2013. It is a collection of short pieces by writers from some 28 countries about their experiences of becoming Australian. Malaysia. Their stories are very different but all part of the fabric that makes us Australian.

I can’t promise to get through 28 songs, but I’ll select music from as many of the 28 countries of origin of the book’s authors as I can.
