EMBRACING DIVERSITY AND MULTICULTURALISM

Escape the cold without leaving Sydney! A Haitian Latin Jazz Show with a French Creole Touch is coming to town and it’s going to be HOT!

Songstress Athésia invites the public to an enchanting evening. Singing Haitian Creole songs, classic French songs and some of her own compositions from her latest album.

Discover Haitian Creole music whilst dancing to the rhythms of Compas, Mini Jazz, Twoubadou, Zouk and Meringue. For one night only in Angel Place, Athésia will be surrounded by her talented musicians; Michael Coggins (Guitar), Giorgio Rojas (Percussion/Drums), Abi McCunn (Saxophone) and Tina Harris (Bass).

Athésia is a singer-songwriter who was born in Montreal to Haitian parents. She’s of French, Spanish and Taino descent (indigenous from the Caribbean). Her roots and her journey, which lead her to sing, have given to her voice this exceptional sensual freshness and a strong warm and smooth flavor. With a sensual entrancing allure, Athésia’s voice is powerful yet soulful. Ever since she started singing, the public appreciates her vocals be it in Brazil, USA, China, Haiti, Argentina, and Peru, where she sang during the Francophonie celebrations.

Athésia, the only Canadian-Haitian-Creole singer in Australia feels compelled to share her Haitian-Canadian culture with the Australian public. Music lovers all over the world recognize that this talented singer-songwriter is very charismatic and has a beaming presence on stage. Athésia sings in French, English, Creole, Portuguese and in “athésian”, the polyphonic artistic language she invented.
