The combination between Mike Nock’s inspiring composition at the age of 72 and the younger jazz musicians
brings life to their album and celebrates Australian jazz music both young and old. The albums 7 tracks are all worth listening to as none are like the other, in an arrangement described as ‘a 21st-century reinvention of Gil Evans’ work for Miles Davis’s famous quintet’
Their track ‘Komodo Dragon’ features a spectacular trumpet tremolo introduction accompanied with a smooth tenor saxophone response to create an excellent sound.
‘After Satie’, beginning with atmospheric percussion and Nock’s wonderfully eclectic piano playing is another highlight of the album with the video featuring images from their recording sessions.
