Australian Playwright and Poetry- Arts Monday
Award winning Playwright, Timothy Daly, and Author and Poet, Libby Hathorn are my guests today. Timothy Daly is one of Australia’s most internationally produced playwrights, with a string of national and international productions to his credit. Academy Award winning actors Cate Blanchett and Geoffrey Rush have appeared in Timothy’s plays as has Academy Award nominee, Jacki Weaver, – his play, Derrida In Love (written expressly for Jacki) was a sell-out Sydney production. Timothy Daly’s play Kafka Dances has won numerous national and international awards since its première, and has become Australia’s most internationally produced play. His play The Man in the Attic won the Patrick White Award for best new play – it has played all over France including a second production at the Avignon Festival. (photo News Corp)
This week we present Episode Five in our series on Australian Poets – Old & New with my guest, author and poet Libby Hathorn. Our fifth episode features John Shaw Neilson (1872 – 1942). Although largely untrained and only basically educated, John Shaw Neilson became known as one of Australia’s finest lyric poets who wrote about the natural world and the beauty in it.
I look forward to your company 10.30am – 12.00pm
