Award for Dr Catherine Crock

Hush Music Collection founder Dr Catherine Crock has been announced as winner of the APRA/AMCOS, Australian Music Centre Award For Excellence By An Individual at the Art Music Awards in Melbourne.

hushThe Art Music Award has been a wonderful and heartfelt honour for Catherine who also commends her fellow nominees and the Art Music Awards for heralding an incredible celebration of Australian music and arts.

For fourteen years Catherine has produced an annual collection of new music to donate to all the children’s hospitals in Australia (and more recently overseas). Hush CDs are played in operating theatres, waiting areas and treatment rooms, which has been proven to help calm the children undergoing medical treatments, their families and staff.

Since 2007 the Hush Collection CDs (Volumes 1 to 13) have represented new music compositions by Australian composers especially for this environment. The qualities of lightness, optimism and calm are celebrated, and the musicianship is informed by each composer visiting Royal Children’s Hospital to experience the journey young patients make.

Music from the Hush Collection has earned a reputation as music of the highest calibre, attracting renowned composers and musicians across the country to donate their time and talents to Hush’s vision.

You can find out more about the Hush Collection, or make a donation, at the Hush Music Foundation.

Congratulations to Dr Crock, for this timely acknowledgement of both her work and her vision.
