Chau Chak Wing Greek collection + Sydney Philharmonia Choirs

Chau Chak Wing Museum (USyd) Greek artefacts

Craig Barker, Manager of Education and Public Programs at the University of Sydney’s Chau Chak Wing Museum  chats to Arts Wednesday about the Greek and Cypriot collections on display. He is also the director of the Paphos Theatre Archaeological Project in Cyprus where the University has been involved in an archaeological dig for many years.

His insights into the ancient history of the area not only informs how he educates tertiary students and enthuses younger visitors to the Museum, but also how he approaches the curating of the exhibits.

Craig also discusses the growing trend for repatriation of objects to their traditional owners and how that might affect museums here and throughout the western world.

St Andrews Cathedral (Sydney) interior

The Sydney Philharmonia Choirs is about to perform a concert of Peteris Vasks’ sacred music at St. Andrews Cathedral on Saturday July 9 at 2pm.

Artistic and Music Director, Brett Weymark, talks us through the program and the importance of this 20th Century Latvian composer.

The sacred music is juxtaposed with contemporary Australian compositions that are spiritual in nature. We discuss the comparisons with similar curatorial designs at modern museums.
