Christian Howes + Simon Kinny-Lewis live at Camelot Lounge
Camelot Lounge is hosting an outstanding gig this Tuesday 4 Dec: leading jazz musicians Christian Howes and Simon Kinny-Lewis.
Foremost jazz violinist Christian Howes has earned great renown and respect from critics and musicians alike. In recent years, Howes has become an in-demand violinist on the New York scene, performing and recording with a multitude of prominent jazz artists.
In August 2011, Howes was ranked as the #1 violinist in the Downbeat Critics Poll “Rising Stars.” He was a nominee for the Jazz Journalists Association’s “violinist of the year” in 2011. In 2012, he received the Residency Partnership from Chamber Music America for his work in outreach with orchestral education programs. He regularly tours throughout Asia, Europe, and the US as a leader of his own groups and a soloist with orchestras. All About Jazz claims: “as a jazz violinist he has no peer.” The Minneapolis Tribune called Howes “arguably the most intriguing young violinist in jazz!” and according to the Chicago Reader, “Not since Jean Luc Ponty has a violinist ranged from pure classical to fuzz-tone rock to convincing jazz with such authority.”
Simon Kinny-Lewis, meanwhile, is one of the most exciting jazz/blues guitarist/singers on the scene today. He started on the instrument early, making his first live appearances at 11 years of age. Kinny-Lewis became obsessed with learning from blues/jazz masters such as Robben Ford, Larry Carlton, Chris Cain, Ray Beadle. In 2010 he became heavily influenced by country and rock guitarists such as Doug Seven, Brent Mason, Richie Kotzen. He has recorded and shared the stage with Christian Howes, Ric Fierabracci, Goran Rista, Hamilton Harden, Simeon Cain, Ray Beadle, Michael Azzopardi, Eko Wicaksono, and many more.
