Gallery Warming: Making art and architecture in a climate crisis

As we face the biggest challenge of our generation, artists, designers and architects worldwide are confronted with the urgent need to tackle climate change and ensure a sustainable practice.

They also have an opportunity to lead the way in climate change awareness, and the call for action. Panellists include Jed Long, Co-Founder and Project Director, Cave Urban; Angela Tiatia, artist. Moderated by Matt Endacott, Urban Renewal Consultant and Director of the Newcastle Art Gallery Foundation.

Something for Jess presents a new pop-up exhibition of Australian prints by British artist and designer Emilie Sheehan, who lives and works in Sydney.

Inspired by the unique, native wildlife and landscape in Australia, her range of funny and delightful Aussie prints showcase her love story to Australia. Her outsider’s perspective embraces the Aussie sense of fun and charm.

All the prints are on sale, with 10% of the profits will go to WIRES (wildlife rescue) charity.

She mixes hand-drawn and watercolour with digital techniques to create playful and bold imagery. Her work creates new personalities, brings joy, while putting a smile on peoples’ faces.

Emilie is a comedy obsessive, inspired by New Yorker cartoons, the energy of Quentin Blake, and the original Paddington Bear illustrations.

These products are made in, and represent Australia and are the perfect memento to a wonderful country.

The exhibition will run at Something for Jess from now until 11 April everyday until 3pm.

Wildlife biologist Liz Bonnin visits scientists working at the cutting-edge of plastics research and joins work with some of the world's leading marine biologists and campaigners to discover the true dangers of plastic in the oceans and what it means for the future of all life on the planet, including humans.
